Even though I despise him and everything he stands for, it sent a chill down my spine to hear Kirk has died. We are rapidly devolving into a violent, unstable nation because the extremists run the asylum. And yes, he was one of those extremists. But this is not how things are supposed to work in America. The Founders envisioned a well ordered socitey. Thanks to the MAGAs and other whackos of all stripes, we have lost our way. Badly.

Ironic that Kirk has suffered same fate as the Democratic Minnesota Lawmaker, her husband and dog, by hands of Maga shooter.

My daughter said, "Since he's so pro-gun, why didn't he have a gun with him to fire back?"

Right. Shows the absolute ridiculousness of the gun advocates' fallacy of self protection.

Guns killed Charlie Kirk, if you live by the gun you may die by a gun.

While he was shot today another school shooting happened.

I'm concerned that Trump will indirectly imply that his followers should use the horrifying assassination of Charlie Kirk as an impetus to retaliate. He's often encouraged his followers to be violent, he himself organized a violent attempt to overturn a fair election that even HE knew he'd lost, and he seems to love when his followers commit violence on his behalf.

Violence itself, is the problem. When a person or a group is indifferent to the suffering of others, when they care only about themselves, when they don't see the legitimacy of someone else's needs and can't engage in mutual empathy, that is emotional violence. That indifference, lack of compassion, inability to see how we're affecting one another, is the hallmark of the right-wing, MAGA, pro-gun Republicans. This is the climate, in a family or in a country, that pushes people toward hopelessness, rage, and the physical violence that ultimately makes everything worse, not better.

"that is emotional violence" I can't agree with you more. And as we both know, emotional violence is the precursor to physical violence, be it in the home or in schools or in the public arena.
