Guns Rights Advocate Charlie Kirk Has Died.
Read his quote below. And no, it's NOT all right that somebody shot Charlie Kirk. I don't care how pissed you are.
Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was shot with a long gun rifle on the campus of Utah Valley University at a rally, according to a statement released by the University. He was struck in the neck. Turning Point USA is saying that “it doesn’t look good” for Kirk, which is in hospital with an undisclosed condition.
From the BBC:
A statement by the Utah Valley University sent to US media says shots were fired from a building about 200 yards (182 metres) away.
"At about 12:20 shots were fired from a building about 200 yards from the speaker. To the best of our knowledge, the individual was hit and was taken away immediately by his security personnel," the statement from Ellen Trean, spokeswoman for Utah Valley University, said.
Kirk, a darling of President Trump, is a vociferous guns’ rights activist. According to Newsweek, in 2023, just a week after three children and three adults had been killed a Covenant Christian School in Nashville, Kirk had this to say:
"You will never live in a society when you have an armed citizenry and you won't have a single gun death. … That is nonsense. It's drivel. But I am—I think it's worth it.
"I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights. That is a prudent deal. It is rational."
Reports Jurist News:
US politicians from both major parties have spoken out following the attack on Kirk, with California Governor Gavin Newsom calling the shooting “disgusting, vile, and reprehensible.” “In the United States of America, we must reject political violence in EVERY form,” Newsom continued. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senator John Fetterman also decried political violence after Kirk’s shooting.
President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and House Speaker Mike Johnson have requested prayers for the conservative commentator.
Well, I’d like to break precendent and ask for the following:
A clear acceptance of the fact that not all countries have an “armed citizenry” as Kirk put it. 100,000 people are shot in the United States every year, and there are 3x as many guns as there are people in this country. I have to go to driving school to drive my Ford Escape. Nobody has to go to school to get a gun. No matter how people like Kirk oil their way around the floor on this one, the United States is in trouble. Australia rounded up all these excess guns and it worked. We can do the same.
And NO, it is not “worth it.” Last year the statistics for KIDS looked like this. 1,262
NVDRS identified 1,262 unintentional firearm injury deaths among children aged 0–17 years: the largest percentage (33%) of these deaths were among children aged 11–15 years, followed by 29% among those aged 0–5 years, 24% among those aged 16–17 years, and 14% among persons aged 6–10 years.
That doesn’t include school shootings. Here’s the chart.
I hope Mr. Kirk has the best possible treatment with the best surgeons. I hope he recovers rapidly and completely and carries no neurological injuries or other long-term effects from this tragedy.
And I hope he changes his mind about guns in America. The Second Amendment was primarily shoved into the Constitution to protect slaveowners’ rights to run Slave Police to hunt down runaway slaves. Because Virginia demanded it. Vote blue. In droves.

Even though I despise him and everything he stands for, it sent a chill down my spine to hear Kirk has died. We are rapidly devolving into a violent, unstable nation because the extremists run the asylum. And yes, he was one of those extremists. But this is not how things are supposed to work in America. The Founders envisioned a well ordered socitey. Thanks to the MAGAs and other whackos of all stripes, we have lost our way. Badly.
Ironic that Kirk has suffered same fate as the Democratic Minnesota Lawmaker, her husband and dog, by hands of Maga shooter.
