Trump Invades Venezuela, Captures President. THIS IS ABOUT OIL, NOT DRUGS.
AND THIS IS ABOUT DROWNING OUT THE HEADLINES ABOUT THE EPSTEIN FILES.
Overnight, the Trump administration, in violation of the War Powers Act and International Law, invaded Caracas, Venezuela, and captured its almost certainly illegitimate president, Nicolas Maduro, and his wife and has allegedly flown them out of the country to face “drug charges” in New York City.
This morning, Malcolm Nance, the brightest of all American Intel lights, tells us the story. He has been predicted a U.S. invasion of Venezuela for months. Read every word.
This is a very dangerous moment because now, without doubt, we have become a PREDATORY EXPANSIONIST STATE. This is high treason, and for the worst reason: greed for oil, to which Trump is 100% dedicated to keeping us chained. It’s what keeps his friends rich, and keeping his rich friends happy is what prevents the invocation of the 25th Amendment.
This is also Hegseth’s ego on steroids. He wants to eclipse Vance and become president in 2028.
PolitiSage also offers these backgrounders for this specific situation:
Venezuela: It's the Oil, Folks. Like it was with Trump Wanting Canada.
OK, the longer you look at this, the clearest the fog swirling in the crystal ball is going to get.
A PolitiSage Backgrounder on Hegseth
There’s no specter scarier than a vengeful Donald Trump with a fistful of America’s nuclear codes—unless it’s a raging Trump with nuclear codes and a glitter of sycophantic MAGA generals and a Secretary of Defense with a brain pickled in alcohol who will do whatever Trump wants, to whomever he wants to punish. That may involve the use of military troops…
Further:
The president of Colombia has called for the U.N. Security Council to meet immediately and has placed troops on its borders with Venezuela to prevent a surge of refugees from entering his country.
Kier Starmer of the UK was quick to say that the UK has no hand in this.
The remaining government of Venezuela is demanding proof of life for Maduro and his wife.
Russian Foreign Ministry: "This morning, the United States committed an act of armed aggression against Venezuela. This is deeply concerning and condemnable."
Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs: “The Mexican government strongly condemns and rejects the military actions carried out unilaterally in recent hours by the armed forces of the United States of America against targets in the territory of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, in clear violation of Article 2 of the Charter of the United Nations. Mexico emphatically reiterates that dialogue and negotiation are the only legitimate and effective means of resolving existing differences, and therefore reaffirms its willingness to support any efforts to facilitate dialogue, mediation, or accompaniment that contribute to preserving regional peace and avoiding confrontation.”
Brazil’s President Luis Inacio Lula da Silva: “The bombings on Venezuelan territory and the capture of its president cross an unacceptable line. These acts represent a grave affront to Venezuela’s sovereignty and yet another extremely dangerous precedent for the entire international community. Attacking countries in flagrant violation of international law is the first step toward a world of violence, chaos, and instability, where the law of the strongest prevails over multilateralism.”
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha: “Ukraine has consistently defended the right of nations to live freely, free of dictatorship, oppression, and human rights violations. The Maduro regime has violated all such principles in every respect. We stand for further developments in accordance with the principles of international law, prioritising democracy, human rights, and the interests of Venezuelans.”
Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko: “The President of Belarus CATEGORICALLY CONDEMNS the act of American aggression against Venezuela. Alexander Lukashenko spoke about the consequences just recently in an interview with American journalists. In particular, he said that “it will be a second Vietnam. And the Americans don’t need it.”
Uruguay Foreign Ministry: “The Government of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay is following with close attention and serious concern the events that have been reported from Venezuela in recent hours, including U.S. air strikes against Venezuelan military installations and civilian infrastructure.”
“Uruguay rejects, as it always has, military intervention by one country in the territory of another and reaffirms the importance of respecting international law and the UN Charter, in particular the basic principle that States must refrain from resorting to the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any State, or in any other manner inconsistent with the Purposes of the United Nations.”
European Union Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas: “I have spoken with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and our Ambassador in Caracas. The EU is closely monitoring the situation in Venezuela. The EU has repeatedly stated that Mr Maduro lacks legitimacy and has defended a peaceful transition. Under all circumstances, the principles of international law and the UN Charter must be respected. We call for restraint.
EU Presideent U rsula von der Leyen: “Following very closely the situation in Venezuela. We stand by the people of Venezuela and support a peaceful and democratic transition. Any solution must respect international law and the UN Charter.”
Chile’s President Gabriel Boric: “As the Government of Chile, we express our concern and condemnation of the military actions of the United States in Venezuela and call for a peaceful solution to the serious crisis affecting the country.Chile reaffirms its commitment to the basic principles of international law, such as the prohibition of the use of force, non-intervention, the peaceful settlement of international disputes, and the territorial integrity of States.”
Colombia President Gustavo Petro: “The Government of the Republic of Colombia views with deep concern the reports of explosions and unusual air activity in recent hours in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, as well as the resulting escalation of tension in the region. Colombia reaffirms its unconditional commitment to the principles enshrined in the UN Charter, in particular respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of States, the prohibition of the use or threat of use of force, and the peaceful settlement of international disputes. In this regard, the Colombian Government rejects any unilateral military action that could aggravate the situation or put the civilian population at risk.
Spanish Foreign Ministry: “Spain calls for de-escalation and moderation, and for action to always be taken in accordance with international law and the principles of the UN Charter. In this regard, Spain is willing to offer its good offices to achieve a peaceful and negotiated solution to the current crisis.”
There are two bottom lines here:
Maduro is an illegitimate president who forced opposition off the stage and flat-out stole his election.
And Trump’s action is illegitimate and has NOTHING to do with restoring democracy in Venezuela. It’s about OIL and rare earth minerals, period.
AND IT IS ALSO ABOUT DEFLECTING ATTENTION, IN THE FLASHIEST POSSIBLE WAY, FROM THE EPSTEIN FILES.
Benjamin Netanyahu went to war and killed 71,000 Palestinians to stay out of court in his country, as the charges against him IN ISRAEL would have resulted in his imprisonment, likely for much of the rest of his life. What has transpired since is that he has been indicted by the ICC on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
The same charges are coming against Trump. The ICC should indict Trump, Noem, Hegseth, and Bondi as soon as possible.
