T-64 and Counting ... Toxic Trump-Vance Misogyny, Crisis Cults, and the Most Important Election in History
Gems from the last week, and a classic from Rupert ...
It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us -- that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion -- that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain … Abraham Lincoln, November 19, 1863, Gettysberg, Pennsylvania.
Yes, Trump has called those who gave the “last full measure of devotion” losers and suckers for having died. He slandered John McCain for being a prisoner of war—for being captured when his plane was shot down.
Before we get to (many) other things, here is Robert Reich’s splendid article on Trump’s Cemeterygate, an appearance that Kamala Harris said “disrespected sacred ground.” Please read it all, and please do subscribe to Reich’s Substack. It’s one of the very, very best out there.
And here are our posts from this last week—and a foundational earlier piece by Rupert (which newbies will never have seen), an article that is remarkable for its long historical view and present understanding. Let’s start there …
The Roots of Trumpism: The Birth of a Crisis Cult and Rural Conservatism
For the people of the rural hinterlands, the expectation of life is continuity, while for the urban populations, the expectation is change.
Next, JD Vance and Donald Trump are using Toxic Manosphere “dog whistles” to try to lure the millions of Incels, MRAs, MGTOWs, and Andrew Tate-style Pick-up Artists out there—and millions is not an overstatement—to the polls to vote for the men who they will now be convinced will help them transform all those “cat ladies” out there into TradWives they can control. It sounds like a Henny Youngman joke, but it’s not. It’s real. And it’s dangerous.
Misogyny ... Trump and Vance Tap the Toxic Manosphere for Votes using Andrew "Tate Hate Speech"
Trump re-posts a meme-lie about Kamala Harris giving bl*w j*bs to get ahead -- and to quote Carly--Vance uses Andrew Tate memes as a "dog whistle" to lure online misogynists to vote for. Trump.
Meanwhile, Trump is hosting the January 6th Awards Gala at his Bedminster Golf Course. Yes, you can’t make this stuff up! He probably won’t speak, but Giuliani and Raimondo probably will.
Now why would Trump be pandering to jailed insurrections?
Probably because he is hoping to raise an army to pull off January-6th-style violence when he loses this election to Kamala Harris, which he has a staggeringly spectacular chance of doing. So stealing the White House—by force—is the only way he’ll get it back.
And to that end, it’s good to remember who actually stormed the Capitol and where their real passions lie: white supremacism, anti-feminism, xenophobia, anti-liberalism, and racist. Here’s a wee primer. And, BTW, terrorism experts are now calling misogyny and a desire to overthrow women’s reproductive, voting, working, and property-ownership rights a bedrock cause of terrorism worldwide.
