90% of people think only men make good leaders? 90% of people would then have no historical knowledge. For every FDR there is a Mussolini, Hitler, Stalin, Tojo. I have begun to think that only women should be allowed to vote.

Please see Helen Chapman's article on PolitiSage this morning. She points out that Trump won the election on RACISM and MISOGYNY, with the economy as an ancillary influence. Men overwhelmingly backed him, but so did white women--BIGTIME. That seems to make racism the bigger issue, but Dem men (pun intended) may have stayed home because they wouldn't vote for a woman. And the result for women is that, beginning within Kavanaugh, followed by Trump, and now by Gaetz and Hegseth, the U.S. government, DOG-WHISTLING THE MANOSPHERE, is rapidly normalizing rape.

There’s something wrong in the land of the free. Well at least in the landlocked states.

Rupert Chapman's article on MAGAs as a Crisis Cult is still the best I've read. https://www.politisage.com/p/the-roots-of-trumpism-the-birth-of-740

Thank you for that. Nothing like lived experience. It’s the toxic religious flim-flam artists who are to blame. So much for give up your riches and follow me! One quibble - not sure why he chose the Yangtze as the source of Chinese civilization. Whilst not untrue the Yellow River civilization was earlier and more important initially.

Combine this with having the Chief Law Enforcement Officer of the land being a pedophile, the US government's OFFICIAL policy will be to support, condone, encourage, and demand that men commit every conceivable form of sexual abuse upon women and children, even if it ends in murder. That includes sex trafficking and child pornography.

They will NOT be punished for doing so in any way.

They will be honored, respected, and decorated for doing so.

Congress needs to change, the laws around pardons. You should not be able to pardon people, that have committed crimes for you. I mean, duh!

Morgaan, allow me to comment on two intertwined topics from your essay. Do I want to support your efforts? Yes, and I also live on Social Security, entirely, and have health care through a Medicare Advantage Plan. My social safety net, stronger than the “nets” of many others. Now those “nets” are ripe for slaughter, since trump/vance intend to make good on the “Save White Male Evangelical Christians” provisions of Project 2025. t/v tried to backpedal before election day. “You’re taking this too literally! These are only ideas.” Now, the post election thrum is, “You better take us literally. This is our blueprint to make White Male Evangelical Christians dominant over everyone else! Comply or die.”

When they tell you, believe them. Nathan Hale expressed this very well to the framers of the Declaration of Independence: “I know not what course others may take, but as for me, GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH!” (emphasis mine)

I think we have simply lost, and it will have to play out. Almost anything we can do in interacting with the forces now fully marshaled under Trump will play into their hands. They've had a persecution complex forever and it's only gained steam and been validated by our resistance.

What we can do is protect those they intend to injure as best we can and, beyond that, hope some kind of luck is on our side. With people this sick and delusional the thing is to get the hell away from them and there's no way we can do that. They're more in power than ever.

It might play out to their disadvantage. That's something we can try to make stick, finally -- the Republican responsibility for almost everything people don't like about life in our country. They've managed to lie their way out of it and shift blame. Disallowing that, with an effective narrative, would be good.

Misogyny is, has been, and will be alive and well in this country until women begin to unapologetically take their place in society. I understand they will face backlash, but if they want to be equal, they have to demand they be treated as such.

What will be hard is that, per usual, about half of the women will choose to suck up to a man rather than to stick up for their daughters. Makes me sick. 46% of the women in this country vote for Trump. But we don’t have to have uniform, high-majority backing. Sanger and McCormick didn’t. Wollstonecraft and de Gouges didn’t. We’ve got you and me and a bunch of very fine sisters, and we’ll be enough.

Be loud and proud. Believe it or not, my dad taught me that back in the 60s. He knew what women were up against. I miss him every day.

My concern is that he is going to allow them to act against Americans protesting and speaking out against fascism and anyone they deem an immigrant. There were groups of unidentified-uniform-wearing-imposters posing as National Guard in DC during the Black Lives Matter protests when he was last in office.
