Unlike the American universities, research institutions, media companies, law firms, and even the Smithsonian, the Nobel Prize organization does not need to fear funding cuts from the Federal largesse, so they should tell him in so many words to go screw himself. I think Trump made the financial cost to Norway clear in his call to Stoltenberg, a former secretary general of NATO and a former prime minister of Norway, when he linked tariffs to his appeal for the Nobel Prize with the Treasury Secretary of the United States and the lead U.S. trade representative on the line. It was a threat--different than what he does, at Netanyahu's behest, to all the American universities' free speech rights and also as a straightforward financial SHAKEDOWN to cover the trashing he's doing to the American economy, which is turning into a slush fund for billionaires. He made it VERY clear by linking tariffs and his appeal to one of the most highly respected men in Europe that he was willing to extort the Norwegian Nobel Committee's capitulation by threatening to bring down the entire economy of Norway. This man's behavior shames me, as an American, to the bottom of my soul.

Before it’s all said and done, Trump is going to create his own prize, imaginatively called the Trump peace prize. He’ll then award it to himself weekly so that he can say he’s won more peace prizes than anyone else, ever. Most importantly, way more than Obama.
If Donald does ever manage to "score" that prize, it seems like it'll have to always be recorded with a bigass asterisk & footnote!!!!!!🙃 (his aggressive campaigning for it)
I don't think he'll get it. Ever. I think the Nobel committees understand that if they did such a thing, the prizes would have no meaning going forward. They have already been through a serious lapse by the literature committees, including the awarding to Elfriede Jelinek of the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2004, awarded by the committee because her work was anti-Bush, when not a single member of the committee had read or seen her serious off-the-wall play. They're not messing around anymore.
