Even if birthrates continue to fall, the population will reach an unsustainable 11.2 billion people by 2100--literal hell on earth. We need to change economies now.
For how much you covered, it's impressive how much you missed.
The ultimate flaw in this piece is that your solution is political. It shows you do not understand the source of the problem.
Don't use women as political bargaining chips.
Not all women want to be part of the corporate machine's workforce. Many genuinely want to be homemakers, wives, mothers.
By contrast, a lot of women do not want that life and want to focus on other things, and there's NOTHING wrong with either choice -- it's the choice of the individual, not society.
You also don't get to dictate who reproduces and who doesn't based on race, then call other groups doing the same thing racist. You appear to be what you criticize.
There is no political solution. Continuing to champion the modern day gladiator games is like continually going back to your abuser expecting to be healed. It's the most deranged form of Stockholm syndrome.
What goes unaddressed here is the crisis we have within each individual, within society, and everything else expanding out from there.
We have an addiction to blame and an allergy to self-examination and accountability. We are losing our humanity.
We hate our neighbors more than we hate the banking cartels and politicians that rape, pillage and wage genocides and war incessantly on this planet -- and somehow no one raises an eyebrow at that.
Lower population doesn't mean shit if the quality of humans on earth is still garbage.
If you want a solution, and it sounds like you're a man based on your writing but I could be wrong -- start helping your actual community instead of deferring your responsibility to politicians who all want you dead - they just lie to you with different branding and language.
And if you supported people having to take an inoculation still in clinical trial phases & never before used on humans under duress and coercion (violation of the Nuremberg Code) in 2021 - you have no room to talk on someone being a slave if they can't control what does and does not happen to their bodies.
Either be about the principle or don't. when you cherry pick, that's politics, which is why it never works.
I vividly remember in 1992 my Ecology professor in Boulder explaining that the earth’s carrying capacity (K) was 2billion. She dared us to vow not to reproduce- and I did. I’m 59 years old now, and I’m happy to say I kept my vow. I wish more had.
Wow. You’ve done it again. You educate my brain and heart every time I read your new posts.
I’m 76 and I don’t wish I was younger. My generation here in America lived in the Best of Times, born several years after WW2 and until 2016 we were still ignorant, except for 911, of how other countries suffered. We were fairly safe and our felt Democracy would protect us. We just had our own little lives to worry about. I had 64 years without this heavy burden the GOP and the radical far right have placed on us.
I know I will leave this horror in a few years. But I have a middle aged daughter and a nine year old neurodivergent grandson that will be forced to find a way to survive what’s been done to America and the Planet. It makes so sad to leave them with the way the world is and will be.
So no, I’m am glad I’m 76 and had my life in the years I did.
