On my sixteenth birthday I swore the same pledge, except that my fealty belonged to the County of Los Angeles. I’d protect, defend, and serve. I had that library book cart for two happy years, knowing that the librarians had hand-picked teens they’d watched grow up. I felt anointed, not just hired. Just before entering Berkeley, I very strongly and powerfully moved all the books by hand from one side of the ref room to the other, like nobody’d ever seen. My pride seems perfectly understandable, desirable, in the quiet People’s Park still advocating for free speech as frisbees flew. Reagan hated and feared that university. His own notable selfishness encouraged the growth of greed and globalization as he lied about the glories of trickle-down economics. My father was no fan of Reagan’s but just as stingy, favoring trickle-up dollars for himself, pennies to my education. One-percent wealth and hate turned red, white, and blowsy. Flag-dragging fools find unnecessary the restrictions of the suffrage-granting Constitution and the field of stars, while revering red states and white nationalism. Fattypants and Lee G. also bless billionaire bros and the noun, verb, 9/11 of terrorism, oil, and domination. As democracy hangs on by its fingertips, G-d save 🇺🇸.

It is a damn shame that Domestic J Terrorist was elected again and given the opportunity to again destroy our sense of order and our democracy. That there are no honorable, experienced military leaders in the Pentagon or DOD is a feature, not a bug. The same is true of all departments across what is left of our federal government. This will take decades to repair and generations to purge the 'true believers' from our society.
