This is an insightful article. The challenge when dealing with Putin is more than fear. My sister-in-law is Russian. When I talk to her about Putin, she admits to his atrocities. All Russians do, she says. They like that Putin is strong, and they feel Russia hasn't been strong for a long time. There is a nationalist fervor running through Russia, she says.
I don't know. But the other one is Evgenia Kara-Murza who's been ALL OVER THE PLACE talking about imprisoned Russian and Belorussian dissidents. What strikes me to the heart is that Putin just keeps killing and he just keeps getting away with it.
When I was posted in Moscow in the late 1990s I found the Mothers of Soldiers to be the bravest people I had ever met. There are incredibly strong women in many countries whose potential for leadership has been sadly ignored.
I truly believe that they don't get it. They're just lock-stepping to the edge of the cliff like good little lemmings because they've been promised white supremacy and because they've bought their own PR that they're the ones in this culture who are "done wrong" because they can't own everything and run everything and order the world around. They have no idea what they're going to lose because they're not looking at anything except what they THINK they have to gain.
We have to have Trump in the slammer by the election -- AND there's mounting evidence the polls are very skewed and maybe on purpose. I am developing a serious distrust of both the media and pollsters. Maybe I'm paranoid, but maybe I'm not.
I'm HOPING that (perhaps, possibly? dear Lord?) the polls are deliberately being skewed. You're right: into the slammer with the crook! [As a South Carolinian, it seems bizarre to me that our little governor actually might become President if the orange sadist is down and out. So many Dems are up in arms about Biden's age. Your thoughts?]

I wonder how her efforts might interact with the Russian concept of the Rodina, the Motherland

And this is what 35% of Americans (think they) want to be our nation's future. Brilliant article. Much needed at this time.

Absolutely correct. If only they didn't have the power to drag the rest of us down the drain with them...
