Wow! What an interesting substack to read while my coffee settles in and perks up my drowsy brain! You’ve given me so many ideas to consider, and I’m thankful for your writing.

Thanks, Bethany! There is a whole HIDDEN history around the coming of the Patriarchy -- which is not more than 5,000 years old, though a few seeds of it come earlier. It was a long, long process: it took 1,500 to really get Patriarchy entrenched in the ancient Near East. But once privilege gets set in stone, getting people to give up ANY privilege is very, very difficult (and we just took a huge step backwards), whether is racist supremacy or male supremacy--because when you are born into privilege, you are born into a world in which the privilege is ubiquitous, and you learn it when you are still in PREVERBAL INFANCY. And the bottom line is that the privilege / prejudice goes in as EMOTION, NOT LOGIC. So, you FEEL entitled, you FEEL an antipathy towards foreigners, you FEEL better-than regarding women or people of color or poor people. You have absorbed this, and only very, very conscious deliberation -- or some serious shock -- snaps you into looking at it in some different way. With the Manosphere, faced with the FORCIBLE REMOVAL OF PRIVILEGE by the activism of women and legislation energized largely by the presence of Martin Luther King, Jr., who, though an activist against racism, highly influenced the worth of ALL people, including women. Add to this the coming of the birth control pill (more on that this week) and the push for equal pay meant women could marry if they wanted, divorce at will, and bear children by largely by choice. Men lost power like somebody shutting down a switching station. And they are VERY, VERY ANGRY. The retrograde forces of misogyny are an expression of men wanted to return us to the 1920s. Peter Thiel says the 1920s were when American stopped being America because of social changes, including women getting the vote!!! He's the one who backed J.D. Vance for VP to Trump, who accepted him. Clarence Thomas wants to reverse birth control, even for married couples, because it's the ONLY way to get women chained to child-bearing and -rearing for the years 17-47 of their lives. That puts all the mobility and freedom--AND MONEY, AND MONEY, AND MONEY--back into men's hands. In 1950 in many women couldn't have a bank account in her own name, own property, inherit property. It was 1975 before a woman could have her own credit card. It was 1964 before the glass ceiling even BEGAN to crack. Three of the five nexuses of the January 6th attack began as largely misogynist organizations--the virulently anti-feminist Proud Boys, the Oath Keepers, and the Three Percenters. Now, on the Dark Web, we have Incels who think women should be property and that rape should be legal on private property--the Pick-Up Artists like Andrew Tate, whose misogyny is almost unfathomabele--and others. Now misogyny will go mainstream because Trump is putting it right in our faces. I'm thinking of beginning a Women's Forum. We're going to need one.

Fascinating stuff! I am all in! Can’t wait for next installment. Watching today Trump’s accelerating fall from Grace as he opens his mouth to speak and only deluded garbage emerges. Promises broken. That lawsuits are being filed quickly is so very hopeful. Now, how do we get those criminals pardoned off the streets before their toxic masculinity gets MORE people killed? HUGE MISTAKE!

My guess is this: When Trump went to prison to sing with these guys, it was to prevent them from implicating him. He promised them if they had their groups (huge) back him and get him back into the White House, he would set them free. He bought their silence. And this is very, very bad news.

😱 Thank you for the insight. Cannot like comment, but your response very enlightening . And frightening. Trump is always transactional so makes sense but gut wrenching for our people and officers at the Capitol on 01/06 not to mention the Committee who prosecuted the impeachment. All journalists, so many at risk of retribution by these criminals.
