Thank you for putting this all together so cogently. It’s overwhelming. Pete Hegseth is a DISqualified nominee, as Senator Elizabeth Warren stated, and should be resoundingly rejected by the US Senate of both parties. For God’s sake, how low can the nominations go?

I think they're going for residence in the magma under the earth's crust.

WHEW!!! What a brilliant -- and PO.WER.FUL. -- essay!! The start of the Russian-Afghan war is completely new to me, as I suspect it is to almost every U.S. citizen. The connection you make between Brezhnev's alcoholism and Hegseth's is outstanding. Re Hegseth's tattoos, I remember seeing the edge of a word in a photograph of him, and was curious what I said. I did some googling and found the phrase was "Deus Vult". That's when I realized just how horrible this monster is. (As for groups that are gonna be "out"? Well, guess our entire family is on that list: husband, Tibetan, Buddhist; me - liberal, woman; daughter, Tibetan/European, liberal, woman.)

Thank you!!! I really don't want to be in the U.S. when Trump takes office. Hegseth is a stupid, violent man who now believes, with his association with a racist white cult religion, that he's got God's imprimatur stamped all over this forehead. Lordy!

When I wrote "out", I mean potentially targeted as "enemies of the state". Having said that, somewhere around 20+ politicians and liberal journalists are being strongly advised by an attorney to "LEAVE THE COUNTRY BEFORE THE INAUGURATION!" He says they should wait a couple of weeks before deciding whether or not it's safe to return. FASCISM WILL RULE. Re the inauguration: I've signed up for another Women's March. I went to the first one in 2017, never dreaming that I'd have to be doing this 8 years later... At least we're not at the stage where the New Army mows us all down with machine guns.

Americans are not tracking the parallels between Taliban rule and Christian nationalism rule. This is terrifying

Great article. An important excerpt from it: "Gaetz as attorney general would have shut down every single case against Trump, including all potential sexual assault cases still threatening him, and would have turned the most sightless of eyes as Trump rolls out Project 2025, fat as it is with unconstitutional potentials its creators hope Trump will illegally institute by fiat."

This brought to my mind an article by a person named Robert Walker who sustains a facebook and substack page _Doomsday debunked - fact checking stories that scare you_. The article "Tips for how to respond to common questions about why trump can't implement project 2025."

What was said in the article seemed legally sound and succeeded at soothing a reactive sense of panic and dread about the incoming presidential administration. I'm bringing attention to it because I'd like to know what you think about it. It didn't sway my own opinion—because of what you said in the included excerpt. The Constitution is not a shield that protects democracy. It's a piece of crumbling parchment. Essentially, its power comes from collective buy-in to a law-based system of democratic governance. Conversely, it is vulnerable to collective disregard originating from the most powerful offices and trickling down.

Matt Gaetz is out but every person in dump's cabinet this time around is being nominated based on the expectation that they will be loyal to dump, not the Constitutional principles. pete hegseth is the embodiment of someone whose nomination was _because_ of his profound UNfitness for the job. This is the sole, thin attribute of his former cabinet that prevented dump from becoming like a dictator in his _first term_. He told his cabinet members to do un-Constitutional things then and some said, "No." But many said yes unquestioningly. One of the things dump said he would do in his second term was have cabinet members who would only say yes.

I'm curious about what valid points you _may_ find in the linked article to substantiate the claim that most of project 2025 cannot be manifested.

What worries me about Hegseth is the possibility he believes in the second coming and wants Armageddon to start the process. Does anyone know what his stance on the Rapture is?

Hegseth is such a bona fide nutcase he might do some useful collateral damage, maybe even to Trump, when he goes up in flames. Some kind of reckoning is in the works for us, I have to think. And Hegseth and some of Trump's other nominees and advisors are just the people to force an accounting.

Though I thought that with Bush and he walked away, if only because everyone was so busy trying to clean up the devastation he left behind, including the possibility of a world financial implosion. These people came to destroy. What did we think it would look like, a midwestern church picnic with casseroles?

It looks exactly like Hegseth, the most inappropriate person imaginable for a job with real responsibility, and it's deliberate destruction. He's well chosen and perfect for blowing stuff up.

I consider myself to be driven by goodness, intelligence, kindness, truth, perfection( hard because it was drilled into me by perfectionists). I am in fact somewhat naive… thinking my country was (is) the best of the best….. slowly I am sinking from the weight of terrible examples of pure unadulterated hate by a few loony tunes who need more than the “have everything already” inscription. Are we truly becoming the lowest class of all? Do we truly want to join those who think being the lowest class allows them to honor chaos.

And anyone who is a member of that “class” that is now so low one needs a major ditch digging monster machine to get lower, better like a world with no oxygen.

Remember , human beings really need oxygen…..
