It has been many years since I have read of Tertullian.

I sense your grief.

As interesting and important as the story of the Carpenter might be, and as influential as the Greek Scriptures have been in the shaping, molding, and guiding of western civilization, like a bright star on a horizon, I think it is fair and safe to say that when the enlightenment arrived humanity had just started to come upon the shores of knowledge founded upon objectively reasoned thinking.

Now some 500 years later I think that it is time for humanity to grow up and put away "religion" and stories based on ancient figures that only serve the ultimate purpose of perpetuating The Figment, of human imaginations, that can only be accurately described as being the Crux of Humanity's Social ills.

Remove the crux and many of its self-perpetuating problems will dissipate without a deity to breath faux-life into it.

Jesus is not the source of compassion; no true compassion comes from people who consciously, conscientiously and consistently about other people.
