Think you live in a democracy? Maybe not.
America ranks as a FLAWED democracy at just 7.8 out of a possible 10.
Overall, Europe looks best, along with Commonwealth countries like New Zealand, Canada and Australia. As usual, the Nordic countries, Iceland, and The Netherlands are spectacular.
By contrast, Russia’s score fell like a brick last year, descending into a dreadful range. Africa, but for a couple of countries in its south, is overall very tough. The Middle East, North Africa and the China-Myanmar-Vietnam-Cambodia complex is fraught.
And Afghanistan is the least free place on the face of this earth.
